The College Counselor provides college counseling and weekly one-hour classes to all students in grades 10-12.  The College Counselor also plans meetings with all parents to discuss the aspirations of all rising seniors and helps them through the college application and selection process. The College Counselor manages the submission of all documents through college application apps or websites to all colleges and universities. The college counselor also provides learning and emotional support for all students in grades 10-12. The successful applicant will join a team consisting of two counselors of grades 1-6 and 7-9, two learning support teachers for ESOL and special education, one contract school therapist and one administrative assistant. The caseload will be 55-60 senior advisees and 90-100 juniors and sophomore from gr.10-11 guidance classes. 90% of the graduates enroll at colleges in the US and Canada, the rest of the graduates enroll in English-taught programs around the world.

         Associate Director of College Counseling 

Starting Date: August 2020
The successful applicant will complement the existing strengths of the College Office team. The ideal candidate will have at least five years experience in college counseling an d a Master’s degree. The candidate will report directly to the Co-Directors of College Counseling and will join a team consisting of two Associate Directors of College Counseling and one administrative assistant. While the College Counseling team reports to the Tutorial House (High School) Principal, College Counselors also work closely with counselors, learning specialists, and with the International Baccalaureate office. This is a 12-month administrative position with generous vacation time. The caseload is approximately 25-30 senior advisees. UNIS hosts approximately 150 visits by colleges each year, and graduates enroll at universities in 10-12 countries. Approximately 70% enroll at colleges in the U.S., 25% enter universities in Canada, the Netherlands, or the U.K.; the others return to their home countries.

This position will report to the provost and have a dotted line reporting relationship to the vice president for enrollment management. The director of global education will be responsible for leading international educational initiatives at Goucher College, including the management, development, and assessment of international partnerships at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and the recruitment and retention of international students. The director will work closely with faculty to develop new study abroad, exchange, and other globally focused programs. The director will assist faculty in developing opportunities for visiting scholars from other countries and creating opportunities for Goucher faculty and students to go abroad to teach, conduct research, study, and expand Goucher’s global reach and perspective. The director will travel internationally to assess current Goucher programs and develop new partnerships, represent Goucher to groups abroad, including other institutions, governments, potential donors and at conferences, and coordinate with international alumni abroad to attend recruitment events in other countries.
