In the year of our 10th Anniversary, we are excited to announce the fourth annual InitialView Fellowship, a nine-month opportunity in Beijing for US- or Canada-based admission officers. InitialView Fellows live and work with the core team in Beijing during the admission cycle. They conduct interviews, travel throughout China and to other countries, connect with counselors, and generally learn all one can about international students and their high schools before returning to their admission offices. Given our growth outside of China, international travel beyond China is likely to increase. The InitialView Fellowship is the only opportunity of its kind for a mid-level independent school or undergraduate admission officer. Applicants do not need to have Chinese language ability; instead, the primary requirements are a devotion to admissions and one’s prospect for future advancement within the admissions world. The Fellowship includes a stipend, a housing allowance, travel expenses, and many adventures and challenges.

In exchange for room and board, Otia Ore - Transitions Without Borders, a not-for-profit organization registered in California and French Polynesia, has 2 positions open in Tahiti for the 2019-2020 school year.
Our current actions are two-folds (the rest of the time is free time):

  1. Run weekly evening activities in English at 2 public boarding high schools (2 evenings per week). The goal of these weekly one-hour sessions is to help students improve their fluency in spoken English while acquiring soft skills (public speaking, social etiquette, team work, etc. )
  1. Host selected students from Friday afternoon to Monday morning during the school year (public school boarding houses are generally closed every weekend). We have a ‘boarding house of excellence’ for boys; ‘excellence’ meaning we have an agreement with the government to work with the public schools to select our boarders based on their grit, personality, maturity or skills.
