Regional Council Election

International ACAC Regional Council

In March 2025, the International ACAC membership approved the establishment of a Regional Council composed of eight Regional Representatives, marking an exciting step toward deepening member engagement and strengthening our global network. Creating the Regional Council accomplishes two goals: to bring deliberate regional representation to the leadership structure of the Association and to widen member participation in leadership roles, by removing the need for voting membership for members to run or vote for these positions.

We invite members who are passionate about advancing the mission of International ACAC and representing their regional perspectives to apply for a three-year term on the Council, beginning in October 2025.

To be considered for the upcoming election, complete your application and submit all required materials by August 14, 2025.

2025 is the inaugural year of the Regional Council, so applications will be open for all 8 regions. The elected Regional Representatives will serve for a three-year term beginning in October 2025.

How to Apply

To apply for an open position on the Regional Council, members must submit the following:

  1. Regional Council Application
  2. Institutional Support Agreement
  3. Current Resume/CV
  4. Application Video

1. Application

The GNC uses many criteria when considering an application, including volunteer experience, committee service, institutional support, leadership, and reliability. The GNC will take the applicant's location into consideration to ensure that only those living in the region are eligible to apply for that Council position. Application questions are listed below to allow applicants to prepare responses prior to submitting the application.

2. Institutional Support Agreement

All candidates running for election to the Regional Council do so with the understanding that this is a volunteer position; however, they must be willing to commit an average of 3-8 hours per week. There will be times of the year when this is much less, and times when more support is required. It is important for the candidate to have both the understanding and support of their supervisor and institution.

3. Current Resume/CV

Candidates are asked to provide their most recent resume or CV to display their professional experience. This can be submitted directly in the application form or can be emailed to the GNC (Elections@InternationalACAC.org) as long as it is received before the application deadline.

4. Application Video

Candidate videos are shared with membership during the election period. The video should be 60-80 seconds long and filmed using a phone camera in the vertical position (portrait mode, not landscape). In your video, you should answer two questions:

  1. Why do you want to serve as a Founding Regional Representative, and how does this role align with your goals in international education?
  2. How do you define effective volunteer leadership? Share examples of how you’ve fostered inclusion or mentorship in cross-cultural teams.

You may upload your video to the application form or email it to Elections@InternationalACAC.org. Videos must be submitted by the application deadline.

Application Questions

The application has five short-answer questions. Please review the questions here to prepare your responses. Your response may be up to 2500 characters long (approximately 300-350 words).

Please note your responses to these questions will be shared during the election period to help members better know the candidates.
