Available Positions
In 2026, an election is being held to fill the Regional Representative positions for Region 2 and Region 8.
These positions are currently filled by members who were appointed for a short term. The Representatives elected in 2026 will serve for a complete 3-year term (July 2026 to July 2029), in accordance with our association's governing documents. Their terms will start following the 2026 Conference in July.
Eligibility to Run
All members are invited to run for the Regional Representative position for the region in which you live. Not the region you are from, where you work, or where your institution/organization is headquartered - you must live in the region you represent.
Eligibility to Vote
Similarly to above, all members are invited to vote for the Regional Representative position for the region in which you live. The intention is that only those residing in the region will represent the region.
Voting versus non-voting membership classification is irrelevant for the Regional Council.

Election Process
Regional Council elections will be happen in conjunction with annual Executive Board elections: applications open in December and elections take place in March.
To apply for an open position on the Regional Council, members must submit the following:
- Regional Council Application
- Institutional Support Agreement
- Current Resume/CV
- Application Video (if slated)
1. Regional Council Application
The Governance & Nominating Committee (GNC) uses many criteria - including International ACAC Board service, volunteer experience, committee service, institutional support, leadership, reliability, event planning/organization experience, and service on other volunteer boards when considering an application.Â
2. Institutional Support Agreement
All candidates running for election to the Regional Council do so with the understanding that this is a volunteer position, however, they must be willing to commit an average of 1-5 hours per week. There will be times of the year when this is less, and times when more support is required. It is important for the candidate to have both the understanding and support of their supervisor and institution.
3. Current Resume/CV
Candidates are asked to provide their most recent resume or CV to display their professional experience. This can be submitted directly in the application form or can be emailed to the GNC (Elections@InternationalACAC.org) as long as it is received before the application deadline.Â
4. Application Video
If slated, candidate videos are shared with membership during the election period. The video should be 60-80 seconds long and filmed using a phone camera in the vertical position (portrait mode, not landscape). In your video, you should answer two questions:
- Why do you want to serve as a Regional Representative, and how does this role align with your goals in international education?Â
- What motivates you to serve your region, and what priorities do you see for your region if elected to the Regional Council?
- How do you define effective volunteer leadership, and how have you fostered inclusion or mentorship within cross-cultural or regionally diverse teams?

- Educating members about the election process.
- Helping to identify and encourage members to apply for open Board positions.
- Reviewing applications to ensure individuals meet eligibility requirements.
