Florida State University - Republic of Panama Campus

Panama City, Panama

This Regional Institute is aimed at connecting secondary school counselors within Latin America with university admission advising tools and networks of universities around the world. It is also intended for universities in North America, Europe, and around the world who want to build connections and deepen their understanding of the Latin American student market.

Through in-depth and focused conversations and presentations, participants will gain a greater understanding of the educational process, admission requirements, fees and scholarships, and the challenges and opportunities students face when applying to a university outside of Latin America.

Institute Location

Florida State University – Republic of Panama Campus
Panama City, Panama
Approximately 60 minutes from Tocumen International Airport

Florida State University offers a rich international environment with a highly talented student body from over 140 countries and hosting over 2,600 visiting scholars and researchers from around the world each year.

The FSU campus in Panama is located in the City of Knowledge, a cluster of over 300 academic, scientific, and humanistic institutions interacting on 300 acres of land in a converted U.S. military base next to the Panama Canal, with over 200 hundred buildings including modern student housing, academic installations and research laboratories, and activity centers that serve more than 5,000 community members.

The goal of FSU is to move into the “Top 25” nationally recognized public universities in the U.S. and to continue to expand its global footprint, fostering diversity and inclusion. Nowhere are these attributes more evident than in the FSU campus in the Republic of Panama, which is celebrating this year its 60th anniversary in the Isthmus.

FSU arrived in Panama 1957 with the mission of offering U.S. college education to members of the U.S. armed forces stationed in the Canal Zone and has since evolved into a modern campus offering undergraduate and graduate programs to students from all over the world and an emblematic presence of the U.S. educational system in Latin America.

The FSU campus in Panama is accredited in the United States of America by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) Commission on Colleges.

The school is a member of International ACAC.

Cost

Latin America Regional Institute fees will be in the similar range as past Regional Institutes, priced to make it as affordable as possible for counselors from across the continent to attend. Come back to this space in October for the latest on fees and registration.

The institute will also offer scholarship opportunities for secondary school counselors who could not otherwise afford to attend.

Additional Events in the Region: In an effort to make international travel more valuable and efficient for our university attendees, the Latin America Regional Institute Committee is making an effort to keep you apprised of additional events in the region as they are scheduled.

Following our institute, Universities are invited to attend the Central American College Tour, organized by Colegios APDE and set up free of cost for universities interested in recruiting students in Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and El Salvador. This is not an International ACAC sponsored event, but we encourage external efforts in order to provide further recruitment opportunities for University attendees.
